USS Santa Barbara (LCS-32) Commissioning Committee lunch at the Santa Barbara Yacht Club, and event at La Cumbre Country Club

Our special guest, CAPT Fay, Commodore of LCS Squadron 1, paid a visit to Santa Barbara. We enjoyed an informational lunch at the Santa Barbara Yacht Club with the Commodore, Kevin McTague, Lola Zinke, Mayor Randy Rowse, Bob Duncan and Charles Huff. We discussed the wide range of possibilities regarding the future commissioning of the USS Santa Barbara on Stearns Wharf. The day included a tour from the water onboard Richard Pertsulakes’ “Overkill”. CAPT Fay spoke as our special guest speaker later that evening at a committee event at La Cumbre Country Club where the community also heard from the Ship’s Sponsor, Lola, and the committee chair, Kevin. Lola’s speech touched on Santa Barbara’s long-standing military history including the two previous ships named after it, an overview of the current ship building process, and why our efforts are vital to provide support to the crew. CAPT Fay gave an amazing speech about his experiences as they related to the continuing success of our Navy thanks to the strength and resilience of its sailors.
